We have our days/nights like other sites do , It's just a matter of hanging in there , or taking a break

I do not know how far back you have gone with your reading but some of the members that have now gone were incredible contributors. They wrote interesting answers and provided some soul and mind searching questions. Regrettably that type of posting is very difficult to find now. Yes people became involved and heated but it was through interest and passion, not hatred and insult as seems to be becoming the norm.

Anonymity can bring out the worst in all of us unless we're disciplined. Most here are just that, as well as a host of other complimentary things I could say. I've seen a couple of incidents, but none as bad as what happened at the weekend. I don't know how often something 'over the top' happens really, as I'm more than a bit unobservant. To answer your last question, put simply, people get engaged in their opinions/answers/questions. We all do, to a degree, but some carry this too far. If no-one cared enough to back their position (whatever it is) the site would simply disolve, which would be very sad.

We are human and some of us are cranky. If you can't deal with the attitudes some of us may display at times then eat a gun right now and save yourself some trauma.

Repeat this mantra: "It's ONLY a message board." Some people, for reasons known only to them, get worked up over something that might not bother you or me. Likewise, something that pisses me off might be fine with you. People have lives outside of AB. They bring the stress and other baggage from their lives onto the board. I think that we all do. It seems to me that nearly all message board-type websites get visits from trolls, or have periods of time when there is unrest. Most people ride it out. It seems to be cyclical. I'm starting to wonder if we're nearing a full moon. ;-) I intend to hang around, and just roll with the flow. I hope you'll consider doing that too.

I for one have never gotten incensed over AnswerBag. Nor have I really encountered anyone being incensed. People talk about it, but maybe I am just too naive and miss it. I enjoy this "place" and the people as well as the discussions, but it is not my real life. That happens when I walk away from the computer. It is part of my life, but not the biggest part.
