yes it does, its like a poison no better than marijuana

It may appear so . Excessive alcohol consumption is harmful in many physical and mental manifestations: "Consuming large amounts of alcohol over a period of time can impair normal brain development in both rats and humans. Research is lacking on the possible brain effects of light or moderate alcohol consumption among young humans. "Deficits in retrieval of verbal and nonverbal information and in visospatial functioning were evident in youths with histories of heavy drinking during early and middle adolescence." "Heavy, chronic drinking appears to produce adverse neural effects that are detectable by functional magnetic resonance imaging." "The data suggest that CIE [chronic-intermittent ethanol] exposure during adolescence has a lasting impact on sensitivity to ethanol-induced motor impairments. This effect might stem from a disruption of normal developmental processes." Abstinence from chronic heavy alcohol consumption encourages new brain cell development, according to a study." It actually digs new channels in the brain. And you gain depth of thinking (Which is a good thing). But, too much of it for too long of a time has the reverse effect. You become borderline retarded like my Father.

Alcohol does NOT kill brain cells. It only impairs brain activity. It does reversible damage to dendrites in the brain causing an increase in calcium and thus impaired brain activity. I believe that there is no evidence/research that states that it can kill brain cells. Alcohol has been proven to kill fetal brain cells

Ever wonder why they use the term "inTOXICated" to describe a state of inebriation?
-
Yes, but cells regenerate. You'll never be able to drink yourself stupid... :-)
-
no and no...researchers say no to this question

alcohol is a toxin to the body. Toxins are metabolized by the liver. Whether or not enough of these toxins get to the brain to damage it may depend on how much and how often you drink and the condition of your liver. There Is new evidence that alcohol consumption can cause different types of cancer. Generally speaking, cancer cells are just cells with damaged or mutated genetic codes.
-
Yes, some studies would suggest that.
-
i've heard that, something to do with the frontal lobe. i feel it is harder on the liver and stomach though
-
yes it dose and unfortunately brain and nerve cells are the only cells that cant regenerate
-
Yeah a night of heavy drinking will kill a few brain cells. But luckily you have millions of them ready to take the place of the ones lost during your little indescretion. Now, if we are talking about slamming fifths of vodka, the problem may be oxygen deprivation rather that brain cells getting zapped by booze. This will kill a lot of brain cells. Luckily, the human body is quite resillient.
