  • From your lips (fingertips?) to admin's ears...it should be!
  • As long as it's a static IP address.
  • Make it so Number 1!
  • That might be possible, but blocking an IP address is an ineffective strategy for stopping trolls. A determined trollster can go to Kinko's, the library, any place with an available PC/Internet connection and BAM! Next thing you know, he's back in business, wreaking havoc.
  • That is difficult at best. If the member is an AOL user, which operates similar to a proxy, if they ban the one member they can take out a hundred innocent AB users. Dynamic IPs make an IP ban problematical. If someone has a dynamic IP, all they need to do is wait for the IP to change. Proxies also make this difficult. Proxies are difficult to use but they DO work. The troll can get a new IP by getting another proxy or forcing their proxy to change IPs. Banning by IP might slow things down, IF they are not AOL and thus risking banning innocents, but the troll would just come back. The only way to stop trolls is to report them and for AB to act quickly on the reports. Also, do not feed them.
  • I thought we were friends, was it something I said? ; )
  • I just got an e-mail from the one of the AB staff. They said they took care of it! Thanks guys!
  • I don't think that's a practical solution because people have ready access to different IP addresses. I also got that account for gmail. I am inviting you to chat now so you will have it.
  • They will just come back as another , just change names and avatars - They know how to scam the system + 5
  • Please don't ban me, I'll be good, I swear! See this halo...that's right...innocent. =)
  • I'm sure it's possible, but it seems like whatever policy is in use to deal with these obviously unrepentant users is ineffective. I think we all know who we are talking about here, and if this were an online video game, the users would have the ability to vote on banning him, permanently.
