Is it more painful to get your first tattoo, or to have your first lover's name tattooed over?

I hear it's most painful to get a tattoo REMOVED.

No tats here, but it makes sense that it would hurt more to cover an existing tattoo because it would require a lot more to cover the existing design (bigger or more intricate work).

I have so far gotten four tattoos in the past 20 years, with more to come shortly. They have NEVER hurt me...the most they feel like is while doing the outline, it feels a bit like being stung quickly by a bee....many times over, but it doesn't hurt. If you have a known low tolerance to pain, then it may "hurt" a bit but it really doesn't, and I'm quite a wimp when it comes to that stuff. It's actually a very relaxing feel once they get done with the outline itself. There's no difference if it's the initial tat or if it's a do over...now removal is suppose to be the painful part!
