i think that depends on what scents are in your shower products (lavender or chamomile before bed, peppermint to wake up) and your personal views on taking a shower.

I don't like showering before bed unless I've been digging in the yard or something all day long. I prefer to shower in the morning because it gives me time to plot out my day in my head and it wakes me up. =)

Taking a warm shower/bath before bed lowers your blood pressure, which makes you feel fatigued, so you are likely to go to sleep faster. Taking a cold shower when you wake up raises your blood pressure, and increases blood flow to the brain, so you are more alert and awake.
