Yes. They're not indestructable, and are often broken down into smaller fragments (with diamond cutters or lasers), polished, and set into various pieces of jewelry. Good question :)
-
Normally diamonds can't be, but I can break diamonds. I'm special that way.
-
Yes, diamonds have a property known as cleavage. These are plains of weakness in the mineral structure. Because of these plains of weakness, diamonds can be broken if you apply enough stress on them. This is why it is not a good idea to try scratching glass with a diamond. The stress placed on the diamond from this can chip it. Also, hit a diamond with something fairly hard can also damage a diamond even though it is the hardest substance we know of.

Have Dr.Laura look at them, her face can break anything.
-
Put one in the blender and find out.

Yes of course, but it will take a lot to break this stone. But it's not invincible. Ü

For sure you can, but who wants to? Diamonds are the hardest known mineral, but they are also rather brittle (a common property of hard substances). Striking any diamond with a regular iron hammer will smash it into a thousand worthless pieces. Also, you can burn a diamond at any temperature above 1200 degrees celsius, to form worthless carbon dioxide!
-
yes they are usually cut with lasers into smaller pieces to use in jewelery ect.
-
Diamond struck on the cleavage point, as earlier stated will break with relative ease. Diamonds can also be burned.
-
Give me a powerful hydrolic press and I'll break it into a billion little fragments. The more force, the fragments I'll make out of that thing.
-
Yes :)

you guys are lame the only actual real way to break a diamond is to use another diamond on it. Like, smash it together!
