It goes out of the ordinary and people love freak shows and wonder why is THAT guy not like the others?
-
I don't know maybe is because they find weird that you don't believe in something that is so important to them which is a God.
-
Basically if you say your athiest you basically say i have no faith. and people feel sorry for them like they are missing out on somegreat thing that everyone that everyone should experience
-
Cause were just so dang perfect :P
-
Because people hate to have their most cherished beliefs threatened. People base their own personal identity on their beliefs. Atheism challenges and is threatening to anyone who believes in God, because it feels like a threat to their basic identity. We all have egos and one thing the ego hates is if something or someone comes along and challenges it's identity.
-
Maybe because their beliefs are different from their own beliefs.
-
I think some people think they are more complex than they really are.
-
I'm very narcissistic. ; )
-
What can I say? We're a very fascinating bunch.
-
We deny something that most people have always taken for granted.
-
I think it's just PEOPLE are interesting, by and large. Humans are a kooky, kooky bunch, and therefore fascinating. It's just that some people are atheists, but are already fascinating by default since they're human. Go out "people watching" and you'll see what I mean. We're a goofy little species, and I love it. :)
-
Because atheists are fascinating.
-
Because those who are fascinated with them believe you cannot live happy productive lives if you don't believe, yet they see us do it all the time. For true believers it's very similar to walking around without a heartbeat. Atheists are neato.
-
My dad was an atheist. I'm far from fascinated.
-
It has recently come to my attention that - among other things - the Religious Right thinks we Atheists are cool. We're regarded and rebellious and fearless. Considering the source, I take that as a great honor
-
personally i think agnostics are much more interesting

it's fun to watch someone who is wrong try to convince everyone they are right. :) Seriously, many people who do believe in God truly believe that Atheists are incorrect and cannot figure out why an Atheist would want to be right. To them, God creates a reason and a purpose for our existence that they believe is lacking if we are just here. Also, religion offers the answer (correct or incorrect) to what happens after we die. Because that is a frightening unknown for many, they want to know what Athiests believe about it. Also, some Athiests make a point of bringing attention to themselves. If someone askes "Why does God let people do bad things?" under Christianity and an Athiest answers, "There is no God.", that suggests to me that they are trying to instigate a debate. Clearly, that isn't what the asker was looking for or they wouldn't have put it under Christianity. They wanted to know what those who do believe think about the matter. That's my take on it anyway.
