Even though both genders are guilty of committing abuse, it's a fact that men do it in higher numbers. Here is a very complete site dealing with the subject, including statistical figures for the U.S. and England. http://www.jimhopper.com/abstats/#faq

This is only my opinions, there is nothing in my answer that is factual- I HEAR about men abusing more than women. I hear about more men sexually abusing, and also physically abusing their wives and/or children. I'm not sure WHY it happens but it seems that men tend to do it more often than women. Maybe it's the pressures of raising a family? (Not an excuse for them. Just trying to understand.)

Living through all of that since I was a baby , not to be hateful towards my step-mom , but now that I look back , I've figured out why she didn't save me , she "choose " to not see or hear it , and she was wonderful so I find it hard she let it go on , day after day - It brings tears streaming down my face , just thinking about it -- She never abused any of us Sorry , now to get to your question , men are a lot more likely , Though my real mother got me really good at birth , abuse from day one --- I've read a lot about it , I gotta stop now + 5

According to E. Sue Blume in "Secret Survivors", perpetrators of sexual molestation of children are 80% male. There are many theories as to why this is (power, control, etc), but no one knows for sure.

What I'm wondering lately is when childred are sexually abused by one parent are they often physically abused by the other? I'd like to know if there is such a correlation or not.
