  • I think its time for a quick visit to the vet! Only the vet can tell you for sure....
  • If he has HAD Ticks, it's possible that he has Lyme's. I suggest strongly that you call the vet and have a blood panel workup to find out. Treated in a timely manner Lyme's responds far better than waiting around to see what new ailment the animal or person will develop next! It could be a pulled muscle...but I would not suggest that you take chances. Best of luck...I hope it IS a pulled muscle that will recover quickly...let us know!
  • I had something similar happen to one of my papillons. She had a tick on her left hind leg. A month later she was lame. Tests for Lyme's came back negative. Later, she was lame in her opposite leg. It took another few weeks to figure out it was Ehrlichia - another tick bourne disease. PLEASE talk to your vet about this if the lameness continues and it cannot be diagnosed. There are several forms for Ehrlichia - test for them all. This disease can be fatal.
  • If you haven't already, get your dog to the vet quickly. Have them do tests for Toxoplasma as well as erlichosis canis, rocky mountain spotted fever and Lyme disease. All of these are dangerous to the welfare and life of your pet. Go NOW!! Don't wait to see if clears up. The toxoplasma test results (with the others screenings) will take nearly two weeks to get back if they send it to the usual place in Colorado. Like I said, get in motion as soon as you can get to a good vet.
