  • Oops, senior moment, it's a VR546, not a 542.
  • I see I'm a little late in answering, but I've been living in the dark ages and would like to stay there. ;) I have the same problem with my RCA VCR, and came across this page: http://www.fixer.com/osm/top-15a.php The problem may be a belt. I am totally dismayed to find that one cannot buy a VCR with a tuner, like the one I have. I've got no interest in DVD players or movies or digital cable; I just like plain old basic cable and taping my shows to watch on the TV that I bought in 1989. I'm not sure what I'm going to do about this revelation that I am now Past Tense, but I think it may involve going to the local TV store and getting my VCR fixed.
