One point that comes to mind is that we can't be peacemakers because we're too enthusiastic about war ourselves. Our actions show that we really DO think war is the answer, and it undermines our credibility as peacemakers -- any attempts we make to urge peace, to encourage others to let go of their differences, fear, and hatred, are met with an unspoken "Oh, really? Look who's talking!"
