  • Before political correctness came into fashion the term "Mankind" stood for both sexes, male or female.
  • It is traditional to say "mankind" when speaking of the human race. The book of Genesis teaches that God first created man to His own image. Genesis 2:7 "then the LORD God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature." God created Eve afterwards. Genesis 2:22 "And the rib that the LORD God had taken from the man He made into a woman and brought her to the man."
  • Proto-Germanic *mann- "person" and sanskit "manu" mankind. It always meant both genders.
