  • I wasn't around in the 1850's, but it is said spaghetti was invented in the early 12th Century in Palermo, a city in Sicily and described as a long, thin noodle that was more similar to the linguine of today. In modern technology, spaghetti is rolled in thin sheets and cut into long, thin strips using a pasta maker machine for precise results.
  • Sure, otherwise, how would Shakespeare have written: "His palms are sweaty, knees doth tremble, arms doth feel heavy. There is vomit on his tunic already, mom's spaghetti."?
  • If memory serves...NO. The Arabs began making spaghetti noodles in 5AD. They introduced it to the Italians around 12AD when they invaded Sicily but it wasn't until the mid 1850's that it actually became popular in Italy after they learned how to mass produce it. It was around the 1890's before spaghetti gained any popularity in the US & then it was mainly served in restaurants. 😋
