The United States exists "In the Name of the most Holy & undivided Trinity" (See the Treaty of Paris (1783) which ended the war between the colonies and Great Britain and formally recognized the United States as an independent nation). The Treaty of Tripoli (1797) recognizes "As the government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion,-as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion or tranquility of Musselmen,-and as the said States never have entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mehomitan nation" Joshua 24:15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. There seems to be another view as well that the government should be used to silence Christianity. Let's take a look at both of these views (The Church should run government: The Church should be silenced by government). In the book of Revelation Christ sends seven letters to seven churches. Among other things these letters are prophetic (do a search for the seven Church ages of Revelation) Pergamos is the Church that married the government and Christ warns against the doctrine of Balaam. The mustard seed has grown into a monstrosity and the fowls of the air have taken up residence in her branches. 2 Corinthians 11:13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. 14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. 15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works. Smyrna is the persecuted church and Christ commands "Fear not" Perhaps do some research and find out for yourself how these periods worked out for both the government and for the Church. Of course now is the age of of the church of the Laodiceans and Christ isn't even inside but stands at the door and knocks and the only way for Him to get in is for you to hear His voice and open up the door.
