  • I don't like walking under ladders, but then that may be linked to common sense no one wants something falling on them.
  • I agree with Creamcrackered. Many old superstitions are steeped in common sense. Don't break a mirror, because they are expensive and sharp glass can be hazardous. Don't walk under a ladder, because falling tools can be hazardous. Don't open your umbrella indoors because you might bash it into something, causing avoidable damage. Don't try to chew gum whilst you sleep. Those ones make perfect sense. Others, though, like Friday the 13th or whatever just seem silly to me.
