i'm am neither. i don't claim either major party and the state i live in is allegedly "purple". and no, i don't think my vote alone can change things.

Neither. I'm Libertarian leaning in a VERY BLUE state. I live in California. The only thing my vote does is to help keep the Libertarians on the ballot in hopes that one day they might get enough votes to at the least become a topic of discussion in the mainstream news media (this has happened in the past).
