  • Political ladder. Even if there were really no chance for victory, the person now has wider "name recognition" as a politician and (so) is available for other political positions, political positions higher than the person had been able to achieve before, and also publicity/public relations jobs that are much more lucrative. *** BUT...one should realize that there IS a chance for victory. IF - for example - the opponent is involved in a major scandal - or even dies - shortly before the election, then the "sure loser" suddenly acquires a very good chance to win the election.
