Sure. That is: a cabal of powerful political and military figures could certainly oust Putin. Remember what happened to Gorbachev? He was kidnapped while - for several days - the cabal behind it attempted a bloodless takeover. The cabal had control of the military, but widespread protests in the USSR were unable to be suppressed by military threats. (Note: very few people were killed, but the cabal DID send in tanks and so on as a threat in several cities, but this threat of military force ended up having very little effect on the protests.) *** Of course, we'd have to have a similar situation. That is: all of the top military leaders as well as some powerful (though not necessarily popular) government officials in a secret agreement to topple Putin and/or the entire government and replace with some other head and/or government. *** HOWEVER: as I understand it Putin has taken great pains to curry the loyalty of the military and if that is so it probably isn't possible to remove him.

Putin has the full support of his people - and why shouldn't he? They understand the history of Ukraine and the Donbas region much better than those in the West who don't know diddly-squat except what they're being spoon-fed by the anti-Russian administration and media. All of you people condemn Russia and support "poor, downtrodden" Ukraine. A large portion of you was against Ukraine when it was part of the Hunter Biden scandal - now you welcome them with open arms simply because Russia is involved. Do you even know the facts surrounding the conflict or is it another "hate Donald Trump because you're told to" tactic being handed to you by Democrats? Now it's "hate Russia because you're told to by the Democrats" - the same thing by the same political party. The only thing different is...NOTHING. Where are you people who claim to think for yourselves? I can understand such behavior from Liberals - they've never been right upstairs anyway. But Conservatives...I'm almost appalled that you would be taken in so easily. It would be laughable if there wasn't so much at stake.
