  • Why do you have to watch your carbs? Both chicken and fish are good for people concerned about carbs.

I have diabetes and want to lose more weight I have lost over 100 lbs

Good for you. I went from an A1c of 7.0 to 5.5 in 6 months after losing 85 lbs. It was the first time I ever heard a doctor declare someone "diabetes-free". Here's what you do: don't worry about carbs as much as calories. Plan your meals so that you keep your calorie intake down - no more than 1000 - 1200 calories per day. You can eat anything you want, just keep the calories down. Plan meals around their calorie value. You may feel hungry for the first few days to a week, but once the body adjusts itself to a lower food intake, you'll not feel so hungry. Drink plenty of water and use plenty of sea salt - salt regulates blood sugar. Dissolve a pinch of sea salt on your tongue (around 1/8 tsp) followed by 16 oz of water to wash it down - do this 1/2 hour before eating and again 2 hours after eating to complete the digestion process. Water will help you feel fuller as well as provide one of the tools needed to produce energy and lose weight. One food that is good for keeping your blood sugars low is turkey. I eat turkey every Sunday. Exercise as much as you can - the best exercise is walking. Walking doesn't burn much in the way of calories, but it promotes circulation - which is important for good health, including weight loss. Get plenty of sleep - with the reduced calorie intake and the increase in water, you can lose as much as 3-5 lbs overnight (8 hours of sleep). Keep in mind that just losing weight isn't always the fix - a lot of normal-weight people are diabetics as well. Curing diabetes is a matter of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Good luck - I'm sure you'll be successful. One site that will prove helpful is https://fdc.nal.usda.gov/

  • Fish. But chicken is cheaper. However, if you're watching carbs you shouldn't batter it and if you want to loose weight you shouldn't fry it. And if you want it to be even healthier have it with plenty of steamed veggies! Congrats on your weight loss! Here is the breakdown on why fish is better for you than chicken: https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/life-style/health-fitness/diet/fish-vs-chicken-what-helps-you-lose-weight-faster-and-why/articleshow/78148854.cms

  • You need a brain first. Neither fish or chicken are carbs. Carbs are found in wheat, sugars and sauces, mainly.

  • Be careful about what fish you eat. For example: tuna has dangerous levels of mercury (USDA recommends a maximum of a very small portion of tuna each week), while (for example) salmon typically has completely safe mercury levels and is in several ways a more healthy choice. *** Meat in general is low in carbs. Carbs come primarily from grains (including flour, corn meal, and things made from such ingredients, such as gravies) and sweets (sugar, honey, syrup, etc.). Beer and mixed drinks also tend to be high in carbs.

  • Both are good for watching carbs, as they are high protein low carb foods. Just don't batter fry or bread and fry either one and you should be fine. Bake, poach, grill or steam for healthier eating. Avoid frying your foods.
  • both are good
