  • It sounds like your windows scandisk might be corrupt. The other option could be that your 80gig is reaching the end of its lifetime. If you could remove the drive and put in a 2.5" hdd enclosure you could try running a scandisk on the drive from any pc with a usb 2.0 port. If that works then it would be your windows scandisk thats dodgy. U can also download 3rd party apps that can run a "scan" on your drive. Just search it in google. But it sounds to me like you need to start backing up your data and look for a new drive. I would remove the drive and put it in an enclosure. Then scan the drive with another pc.
