  • Zonealarm or BlackIce for a Firewall. AdAware and Spybot for Spyware. AVG or Avast for Antivirus. Whatever you do, STAY AWAY FROM NORTON AND MCAFEE!
  • My fave, and I know I am FAR FAR FAR FAR FAR from alone is the combination of AVG, ZoneAlarm, and Spybot Search-and-Destroy. Just don't forget to turn on Spybot's resident blocker to intercept spyware in real-time ;)

  • Excuse me but I have to do this.... Linux. That is all :P haha, anyways, for windoze people. I find that a combo of: Zonealarm for firewall. AVG for antivirus (Cyberhawk free has some pretty nice heuristics and its uses very little memory) Spybot S&D + AdAware to keep the nasties out. So long as you run those tests weekly and stay off those inapporpriate sites you should be able to stay virus free for life.
  • ClamAV antivirus, Barracuda firewall, and a linux operating system means you are pretty bomb proof. And to protect your privacy, use a proxy or tor.
