  • Pacifism is defined as philosophical opposition toward violence. Both absolute pacifism (abstinence from violence without exception) and non-absolute pacifism (abstinence from violence with certain defined exceptions) are valid subsets of pacifist belief. The next step away from that philosophy would be non-aggression, in which you believe in responding to violence only if violence was initiated by the other party. I'm not sure there is a name encompassing the philosophy of embracing violence under whatever circumstances.
