Sorry to enter in so late. I just ran across this question. Actually, we already pay more for our heath care than all those dreaded SOCIALIST systems in the rest of the civilized world. Americans pay almost twice what the rest of the world pays per capita. And the cost is the ONLY place where our system is number one. When rated by life span, infant mortality, deaths in childbirth, deaths from preventable causes; the American health care system is number 37 among developer nations, stuck between Costa Rica and Slovenia! So the assumption that you must throw money at the problem to solve it is flawed. A single-payer system would save substantial amounts of money and provide us better care.

The average health care bill per person is over $8,000 for those that have it. There are now more than 40 million that do not. But yet we trail several countries in average lifespan and infant mortality - we pay more and get less than any country in the world. The system is rigged in favor of the drug and insurance companies and I would be hard pressed to find a system that is more broken. I do not accept the premise of your question that we would have to pay more to get better.

We can not afford to pay for other to have health care, it cost us enough already. Let them get jobs and insurance. Everybody on welfare should have to work for being on welfare even it it means push brooming the streets. they need to be made ot earn the money instead of free loading off tax payers.

Absolutely NOT.
