I think that would be a little harsh. Not everyone likes them but they don't deserve to be banned. Lets face it JK Rowling isn't a millionaire for nothing.
-
No book should ever be banned, and that includes books such as Mein Kampf and Harry Potter.
-
For what reason? No. Even the book "Hitman" has been re-released. It teaches people how to commit murder.
-
No book banning..thats been tried before..If people object to a certain book..the solution is common sense..dont read it or buy end..end of problem :)
-
No they should not. I haven't read any of them nor do I plan on it. The movies are alright, but it's just not my thing. It is ridiculous to ban things like that, it makes people want to read them more if anything. Prohibiting anything rarely ever works. http://www.answerbag.com/a_view/1102054

No, Now i dont like the harry potter books and i dont see why people would Q up until 12 midnight for a book but some people do like the Harry Potter books and banning it would take away something that they enjoy doing. (reading).
-
The name Harry Potter should be banned
-
No.
-
Sure ban Harry Potter books and make more people read them :).
-
No the book are great to read and I have totally enjoyed each and everyone of them.
-
if you think those should be banned look at some video games and make that assessment
-
What angle exactly are you coming from as to why they should be banned?
-
Absolutely not. That's like saying the the bible, the koran, or any other religious flavor book should be banned because some people (or groups of people) disagree with what's inside them. Besides, they Harry Potter books are fun reads :)
-
No books should be banned.
-
No it should not. For all of those people who say it promotes witchcraft, it does not. It is simply the story of a boy and his friends in a school of magic. The story is fiction. It could not possibly promote witchcraft or any other thing against the Bible.
-
No. On what basis would one make the argument? The only thing that they do is tell the story of people with magic powers (hell, lots of books do that) and have the audacity to actually call them witches. It isn't even as if witchcraft is a bad thing. I do think that the deliberate spreading of ignorant stupidity should be criminalized, though.

Book banning/burning was something done decades ago. There's a little something called freedom of speech; you have the right to not buy them, but cannot prevent me from doing so. Besides, the books were great and are in no way promoting anything other than good fiction.
-
No...
-
What the hell for? No way. Just because someone doesn't have an imagination doesn't mean we should all suffer. Actually, I change that from no way to, F*CK NO. If they ever are to become banned, I'm packing my stuff and moving to Canada. It's that easy.
-
banning books so archaic. I would love for someone to explain to me how a book...a work of fiction...can possibly promote witchcraft or evil? I used to work at bookstores years ago. every year during "banned books" week we would highlight various books and all the ridiculous reasons they had been banned in the past. the key word here is "past"... Besides which, anytime people try to ban something, or object to something (books, movies, etc.) it only makes people more interested. The controversy started by those who object always have the opposite effect, they cause more sales! this is the 21st century. I think most people are a lot more intelligent than this.

Book banning is unconstitutional for a very good reason. Without freedom of speech and press, we let the government make people's choices for them. There can be know hint of democratic values in a society that bans books. I assume you meant the government. Any person is free to ban anything they like from their own home or domain, but freedom requires that people be able to read whatever they choose. That is also, by the way, I believe, a biblical value.
-
What a silly question, they havnt 500000,000000000 billon squillion copies because they are controversial...
-
Why would you want to ban a good that has encouraged millions of children all over the world to read? Sounds moronic to me.
-
What country do you call home? If it's the USA you should consider moving.
-
No they shouldnt, then they would have to ban a lot of other books/magazines out there.

No they shouldnt, then they would have to ban a lot of other books/magazines out there.
-
I don't think the books should be banned, but I also don't think that they should be the REQUIRED reading that they are in some schools.
-
Why? Harry Potter books are awesome! I don't think books should ever be banned
-
Of course not.Harry potter books are the best, however some people think that they affect us badly. That is not true because noone believes that magic and e.t.c is true.
-
No and I hope we, as a nation, never get to that point. Banning books just because we might disagree on the content? Then who gets to decide? Sounds like it's straight out of the movie V for Vendetta...

For what reason?
