The Mall, Bookstores, Art Museums, concerts, other people's houses, restaurants, the movies, arcades, bowling alley's, bars, clubs, etc.

In my experience, one of the hippest hangouts around is the local thrift store; It's nice and quiet, with lots of small dark corners to sit and read in, and the staff isn't paid enough to care whether you spend all day there just hanging out. And let's face it people, the stuff on sale at a second-hand shoppe is just soooo much hipper than any of the junk you can get new.
