  • It is unlikely, but the liberals are pushing for more of a communist style "nanny state" where everyone has all their needs provided by the state and ultimately the state has control over everyone.
  • Extremely unlikesly.
  • It is, if Hillary is elected.
  • No, not likely at all.
  • There are some who would call it a police state right now. If you are black or brown and live in a ghetto, you might think so. Police states are not really hard on the power structure, only on the powerless. If you wear overly-casual clothes, have a "certain look", are black or brown and live in the wrong neighborhood, you will be stoped, asked for your ID, asked where you are going and what you are doing, possibly searched, given a lecture and, if you're lucky, then released. Is taht what we call a "free society"? Right now, regardless of your ethnicity, your phone calls can be monitored, your buying history can be checked, the books you check out of the library can be monitored, your travel can be monitored. Is this a "free society"? Maybe I should ask just what is a "police state". Do we or do we not have one right now?
  • When you say it like that it just sounds so... rigid and repressive controls over the social, economic and political life of the population, especially by means of a secret police force which operates above the normal constraints found in a liberal democracy. A police state typically exhibits elements of totalitarianism and social control, and there is usually little distinction between the law and the exercise of political power by the executive. How about we call it...........Homeland Security?
  • Very likely and the election of a democrat will bring this on us very quickly.
  • It's amazing the people in this thread who claim that a liberal democrat would make this nation a police state- those people don't know what a police state is. Liberals favor individual human rights and liberties- the exact opposite of a police state. Our current conservative administration believes in removing human rights from individuals in the name of homeland security. THAT'S a police state. As Benjamin Franklin said, "Those who would sacrifice freedom for temporary security deserve neither."
