False. It took place in Bethel, NY. Didn't attend 1969 festival (was only 1 years old) but I did attend the 1999 festival.

In my book the whole affair wasn't even officially called Woodstock. On the official poster it said: "Woodstock music and art fair presents an aquarian exposition in White Lake, N. Y. -- 3 days of peace and music" To me "Woodstock music and art fair" are the organisers, and the whole thing didn't really have an official name.

The festival was never scheduled to be actually held in Woodstock, which surprisingly is a pretty woody area with not enough open spaces for a festival. The first venue was ca. 70 km south of the actual Woodstock, the eventual site was also 70 km south of the actual Woodstock.

I was 18 and idiot me did not go. I could have gone, but let it slide. I did go to many concerts that were like that, but that was the biggie. I went to Kickapoo Creek Wisconsin which was hardly Woodstock but it was the same era. The Grateful Dead played all day Sunday so that made it all worthwhile. However someone gave me a horse tranquilizer telling me it was mescaline and I bummed out bad. (yes I did drugs back then). They had this new band that no one ever heard of there called Arrowsmith. I thought they sucked. I was nuts of course.
