How long is my tragus piercing supposed to hurt? i got it 4 days ago and it is still sore and throbbing almost constantly! i have been cleaning it several times a day and i am just wondering if it is normal for it to still hurt, and for how much longer?

It should not be hurting constantly, as you describe, after 4 days. Mine were barely noticeably painful after an hour unless I made the mistake and slept on them or played with them too much. Here is one thing that many people do that cause it to be inflamed and painful: sleep on it. Are you sleeping on your side? If so, try to not. If you cannot help but sleep on it, roll up a towel and make a kind of "donut" to take the weight off of your ear. Also, you say that you are cleaning it "several times" a day. You should not clean it more than twice. Any more than twice is going to cause drying and/or inflammation. Another thing... what are you using for aftercare? Your piercer should have suggested washing it gently in a mild antibacterial soap and given you a solution specially to cleanse it with afterwards. Some piercers say to use half water/half bactine. Never use peroxide. Good luck and if you continue to have problems... call your piercer!

They can take anywhere from 2months to one year to fully heal. The pain is because you had to pierce through so much cartilage - it's going to hurt for awhile.

your piercing will be sore for at least a year! For the first 2-3 weeks it will be sore to the touch but the hurt will lessen but will not heal completely for at least 1-2 years. at least mine did

I got mine two days ago and there is no pain, well there never really was. Its just kind of sore when i clean it. my piercer was really good. I was told to clean 3 times a day with 8oz of water, 1/2 tsp of alessi non iodized sea salt... i sleep on mine and i dont feel it. So idk what the big fuss is...

I think you cleaned it too much since you said you cleaned it several times a day. Overcleaning ur tragus can cause dryness, soreness and maybe even an infection. When i got mine done it stopped hurting and swelling after the next day i got it ..

I got mine done the other day and it's only got sore this morning, i think it's cause i slept on it. Maybe i put too much pressure on it last night. I hope it gets better soon though, cause i love it!! xxxx

hey ! i got my tragus pierced also like a week or so ago. & mine still hurts too but when i don't touch it I can barely notice it lol! But my tragus is swelled for some reason? But if you are cleaning it TWICE a day with the right cleaning stuff (given by a piercer) it should be alright after a month.
