Infant describes a wide range of ages to be honest. What age are we looking at?

It's not as dangerous as they make it sound at the hospital. Both my little ones could only sleep on their stomachs when they were newborns. The thing is, older nurses will tell you that you shouldn't have them sleep on their backs, as if they spit up in their sleep, they can choke...just what I've been told anyway. The nurses with my kids argued amongst each other about it, telling me that there is no wrong or right...It's whatever the baby decides.

For the first half of a babies life (6 months) they should always be sleeping on their back, S.I.D.S is a very dangerous thing and is more common in babies that sleep on their stomachs..Even if they sleep better on their tummies its best to put them to sleep on their backs, Never allow them to sleep on their stomachs unless they can roll over with ease..Then you don't have to worry about the babies possibly suffocating in their sleep.

When I had my babies in the 80s, all babies were put to sleep on their tummies! Now, because of discoveries about SIDS, medical advice is to not allow them to sleep on their tummies. At least until they are able to move themselves about a bit. Then they will begin to sleep in the position they will keep for the rest of their lives. If bub does not like back, try on their side with a rolled towel behind them to stop them falling back. I don't know if this is good or bad practice, but it was something I was taught.
