Carpet or hardwood floor?

Hardwood. It looks so nice freshly mopped. You never have to worry about stains.

Since the carpet was in the house when we bought it but I would like to change to hardwood floors or tile soon.

I prefer a hardwood floor over wall to wall carpet but, really prefer tile to hardwood floors. Throw carpets with hardwood floors or tile are okay though and it looks really nice.

Is this a sex question? Do you mean rug burn or splinters? Anyway, hard wood generally, but rug burn as it pertains to my interprtation.

carpet. i don't like wearing socks and i hate walking around on hardwood because i always end up stepping on a little crumb or something and it gets stuck to my foot.

I dislike carpets, but I like decorative hanging tapestries. I prefer hardwood to carpet ... but my real preference is thick stone slabs for a solid floor ( concrete will do, but polished red granite is my favourite) with lots of metal pipes for water heating inside the stone slabs or concrete and in the case of concrete, have the floor covered with a high grade ceramic tile.

We have carpet in some rooms and hardwood in some others. The thing I notice about the hardwood is if you drop even the smallest item on it, it makes such a loud noise. So I prefer carpet.

Give me the Hardwood / Laminiate floors anytime .... Yes; dust shows up more on the wood style floors ; BUT with carpet, the dirt shows more , you have dustmites, etc ....

Carpeting in the living rooms and bedrooms, keeps the floors from getting scratched and helps muffle footsteps and other noises. Hardwoods are too high-maintenance.

It depends on the location in the house and in mine, I have Tile, real hardwood (not cheap laminate), and carpet for the bedrooms.

carpet is so nice,soft, warm,sound absorbing,at first!But then it gets dirtier and dirtier.No way to Really clean it good...So I like hardwood,or tiles,or anything but carpet(allergies)

Soft plush carpeting in the sitting room, game room, and bedrooms, thank you. Stone tile in high-traffic areas like entry foyers and in rooms were spills and messes are common the kitchen and the loo. Vinyl tile in working/storage rooms like the laundry, pantry, or workshop. I can't think of any room where wood is practical or comfy.

you know...I always wnted hardwood and now that I have it....I would preactically give my life for carpet LOL.....It looks good when it's clean but it's hard to keep clean....When you have a 1 1/2 yr old, a dog, a messy husband, and you can't seem to grow grass in your yards

In the Kitchen, Hall and Bathroom: wood. I avoid "Hardwood" (from the rain forests) which is environmentally very unfriendly.

I have no carpets, just tiles in kitchen and bathrooms and parkett in all other rooms, easy to clean.
