As far as I know, unless you have one of those motion-censor toilets, you have to press the handle to flush.

Train your dog to do it for you.

Lift up the back of the toilet(cover on top of tank). Underneath there, you should see some kind of float, and a shuttle system that pulls up the plug on the bottom of the tank. This is clean water, so don't have a hissy. Just push the float down under the water, and it will flush. Or, grab the shuttle(this involves reaching in the water) and pull up.
