Can you ask/answer one question and have it be anonymous? I have noticed people would answer anonymously and then later it would show their names?

No you can't. If you change your user ID to anonymous, then all your submissions are changed accordingly. Then, if you change back to your name, all your submissions are changed back as well. You can't have one question or answer under anonymous and the rest under your name. If you want to ask or answer something anonymously you'll have to use a different account.

No. You can create another account under anonymous and ask that question there if you dont want anyone to know who u are. Hope that helps.

Not while using your account. You could open up a second account (known as a sock puppet) for this purpose, it has been done by others when they have something private they want to ask about.

Why do that? Be brave enough to post answers and questions using your account.

Names can change at the whim of the user. Just edit your profile and change your name or avatar. Thing is, it will appear on ALL your questions/answers/comments as the new name. The ONLY way to ask a single (or more) question(s) as "anonymous" would be to create a secondary account. I really don't think this is technically legal, nor is it considered "fair" by most ABers - It's a way to "cheat the system". If caught I'm not sure what would happen. There ARE users on AB known to have multiple accounts, and they usually work one at a time.

The only way, currently, would be to create another account (different email address), and keep it anonymous. ONLY use it to ask those questions. "Sockpuppets", while not against the rules, CANNOT be used to circumvent Penalty Box sentences of your main account, to uprate and downrate your friends or enemies in addition to your main account, nor can you use them to harass people (your enemies, usually).

Edit your settings so that your nickname is "Anonymous". Deleting your avatar would probably help too.

I think we are all anonymous because nobody really knows who we are, but if you mean anonymous from the people here on AB, you can change your avatar back to the blue bag and change your name to Anonymous.

Open a second account and ask your question. Keep in mind being a troll and wanting privacy are two different things.

Yes, but you have to use a new profile to do it. Most people will create an anon profile for personal questions only, and use their regular profile for the other kind.

Everyone is relatively anonymous, since we don't know who the users are, but if you want to ask a question in a different profile, open a new one and ask. Every question can be Googled, so don't expect complete privacy.
