Why do trucks that haul fish always say FISH on the side in big letters but trucks that haul other things, like say, cheese, do not?

i think its a warning. as in: don't have a car accident with this van or else you and the remainings of your car will stink like fish.

I think its because people can have much more serious allergies to fish than they can to cheese. One of my friends breaks out in hives everytime she smells fish.

because the fish are considered live animals and since they are in an inclosed tank, they have to have that warning on the container.

In grocery wharehouses there are hundreds and sometimes well into the thousands of trailers with hundreds of loads coming in every day. Fish is one of the most perrishable commodities. A trailer that says FISH on the side can be speeded to its receiving area or dock by security. Also,trailers that haul fish, consequently,smell like fish.So only fish or products that will not be affected by the smell are shipped in these trailers. Produce shippers will generally not use "FISH" trailers because the produce may smell like fish,and would require many labor hours to wash the produce
