  • A pierced tragus can take anywhere from two months to one year to fully heal. Like any other external piercing, it should be cleaned several times daily with a solution of warm water and non-iodized sea salt or a pre-mixed saline solution (like contact lens cleaner), and a mild antibacterial or antimicrobial soap.
  • Do the following twice a day. If you do it more than that, you shall irritate the piercing: Wash it with warm, mild antibacterial soap. Your piercer should have given you something to put on it after it is washed, some sort of antiseptic piercing solution. 50% water, 50% Bactine is sometimes used after washing. Bactine can be drying. If you have a CBB, rotate the jewelry carefully and gently, cleansing all parts of it. When you sleep, you might want to avoid sleeping on the side with the piercing. If you have both sides done, sleep on your back or wrap a towel around in a circle to take the pressure off of the piercing.
  • i got told when i got mine done not to turn it but to only clean it with the spray that i got with it... whys that? would it be wise to turn it, coz i dont want it to grow over the ear ring...
  • I got both mine pierced this past friday, and I have been using H2Ocean purified sea salt water that I bought from a piercer.
  • it is different for each person but i would suggest sticking with mild soap and sea salt solution. do not turn the peircing you will not do anything but irratate it more. if you clean it properly twice a day and not touch it when your hands are dirty it should be just fine.
  • Use the h2ocean sea salt spray. I used it and it prevented me from developing another keloid and it really helps. I think you should move the jewelry around so that the discharge and blood doesn't heal with the jewelry stuck in place. However, when you move it around, wash it right after.
  • I use H2ocean to get all the blood and crust off first, then use Dial or Lever 2000 soap to clean the hole AND jewelry really well. Move the jewelry around and clean it to get everything off, and rinse it out really well, YOu don't want soap in there.
  • You have a few ways to do this. Sea salts, anti-bacterial soap. Stay away from iodine because it can make you go deaf, or damage your ear. One way that wasn't mentioned is a 50/50 solution of bactine/water in a squeeze bottle. That always worked for me.
  • My piercer, who is considered the best in town, told me to do a sea salt soak 3-4 times per day in tepid water for 10-15 minutes. He said not to use soap on it or rotate it, just leave it alone as much as possible. This seems like a pretty uncommon aftercare procedure, but I trust him, and I've had my tragus piercings for 2 weeks and so far everything's fine.
  • i had my tragus pierced today, it wasnt as painful as i thought... i was told by my piercer to clean it with warm water, and a litte salt as a little goes a long way, alternating with savlon anti bacterial spray. he also told me not to move it, only if it was realli necessary as it would aggrovate the hole and increase risk of infection and may not heal as quickly.
  • i dont know wether too turn the trags piercing or not? i only had it done yesterday but the piercer just said too dab it with a cottonbud soaked in lukewarmwater with salt.
  • When I had mine done, I cleaned it twice a day with antibacterial soap. I left the soap on for about a minute while rotating the ring. I didn't start actually turning the ring through the hole until I'd had it for a couple weeks and it didn't hurt as badly to clean it. I never had any trouble with mine, aside from it itching a lot.
  • Wash your hands with anti-bacteria soap then use sea salt rinse (that's 1/4 teaspoon per 8 oz of warm water) use a q tip and clean both side of the trag and move the ring carefully so you don't pull it.
  • Just got mine done tonight. Was told...wet a clean cotton ball with straight saline solution hold on to piercing for 5 minutes, carefully remove all matter from piercing area & jewelry (once in morning, once at night). Apply Provon/Satin, rotate piercing 4 to 5 times - rinse. Handle as little as possible. He says that saline can be used as often as you like. Do Not Change Piercing Till completely Healed (which could take up to 2 years).
  • i had mine done last monday (today is Sat) i've had very little swelling, and i clean it with tisserand tea tree oil wand. i've had very little weep, and it's okay to sleep on. My helix piercing was much worse, and even after a year failed to heal properly, until i used tea tree oil wand.
  • I had mine done on Wednesday. It was fine all day until Thursday morning and I thought it was just because I had slept on it that night It started swelling but nothing else. I had crust around it but I just cleaned it with the anti-bacterial soap they gave me. They said too wash with the soap, then rinse, then use a ear piercing solution to clean it then spray it with sea salt. It doesn't hurt to move the jewelry just hurts to touch the actual spot it is pierced. Is this a sign of infection?!
  • Clean your hand thoroughly before you start. Twice a day, wash with mild antibacterial soap. The piercer should have given you something to put on it after it is washed. 50% water, 50% Bactine is sometimes used after washing. Do not try to remove the little crusties that build up by scraping them away. Hopefully they will come off when cleaning with the solution. If you pick/scratch at them, little pieces can be lodged in the piercing, and cause an infection. Use lavender oil on it after cleansing. Make sure that it was 100% natural, no additives in it. Lavender oil promotes healing, it will allow the piercing to heal much faster. Rotate the jewelry very carefully. Don't pull it or tear the piercing. This is necessary so that the jewelry doesn't adhere to the healing skin. Don't sleep on the side that you just got pierced. It puts unnecessary pressure on the piercing that can slow the healing process.
