  • Didn't you know America was in the centre of the world?! I reckon that holds the clue. Though you shouldn't forget he should also save the Queen, as opposed to anyone else.
  • I believe that statement was intended to be specific to America, but certainly not exclusive. If China would like to state "God bless China", that would be acceptable too.
  • I dont know but that doesnt seem to be working out real well :)
  • It should be God bless all creation.
  • I think this is related to the "Bless you" when people sneeze. If you know the superstition, you might understand what I mean. America has sneezed.
  • He shouldn't. It's presumptuous to think any country would be up to his standards alone, that no other country could ever rise so high or be so honorable.
  • It's fine for God to bless America, of course... but focusing exclusively on America is rather "group-ego centric". When I see bumper stickers with this message, I think "gosh, should he damn the other countries?" It really does have its roots in an "us vs. them" mindset... at least, most of the time. When we start wrapping ourselves up in the flag and the Bible and think that we're separate from the rest of humanity, it makes fertile ground for the growth of nationalism, xenophobia, mistrust of other religions, and other quasi-dangerous weeds. How about just "God bless everyone". Much more inclusive.
  • It's a statement originally made to pay homage to the land of the free. It's also the unofficial national anthem. I do not believe it was meant to be exclusive of other countries.
  • I don't think it means, "as opposed to the rest of the world," and least I don;t when I sing it. I love the patriotic songs of various nations. They stir my soul. All nations have a place in God's purpose.
  • There really isn't any reason for Him to bless the United States of America. Don't get me wrong, I love my country, but we've really went down hill and spat in God's face. We are a very proud, stiff-necked, and backslidden people. Rather than "God bless America", "God blessed America" would be better to say because He has indeed. -In the Master's service. Thank you and God bless you!
  • Because America really needs it.
  • It's not an exclusive statement. God can bless America and the world. :)
