You're reading Do you know the name of a novel set in the 20th century in which one of the main characters is named Cornelius?
Comments
Thanks, Lyn. Not the one, but I appreciate your help:)
I read this book a few years ago and don't remember much. Cornelius was a young guy, wealthy, and the story unfolded through the eyes of his best friend, a not-so wealthy fellow, in a first person narrative. (Think Nick - Great Gatsby)
I want to say his name is Cornelius van -- something or another. They met in college, I think.
I feel like I've got amnesia, but...
You know how it works - I'll put this on the back burner of my brain, and one day, six months from now, I'll be thinking about something else and the name of the book will pop into my head.

happens to me all the time. Was it one of those epic type novels?
Sounds familiar.

Boom! - I flashed on the book cover just now. Then the author Wow! That was a fast six months, LOL.
"The Rich are Different" and "Sins of the Fathers" by Susan Howatch. Those are the books. Thanks, Lyn. I'm not sure I would have remembered so quickly had I not written the above comment to you.

Ya did it yourself! I was thinking of Susan Howatch or Belva Plain when I said "epic". I remember this book. I think Cornelius was an unsympathetic character? There are several of Howatch's books I really enjoyed. I'll have to read this one again after Harry Potter #7!

I believe you're right on Cornelius - at least I don't have a sense that he merits a fond remembrance.
I loved "The Wheel of Fortune." After I finish "The Historian", WoF is the book. Then <deep breath> I'm gonna write one.

You certainly should. Your use and understanding of words is exceptional, and I think your keen insights are worth recording.
