So only the "good", "clean", "healthy" smoke gets into your lungs and everyone within 10 feet. The tobacco industry wouldn't want to endanger the lives of any of it's user's.

To give smokers a false sense of security, by making them believe that it catches enough of the toxins in the smoke to play even a miniscule role in keeping your lungs clean and healthy and to keep the tobacco from getting in your mouth.
