Since absinthe is illegal in the U.S how can you get it and what is it like?

My bf's parents went to Europe and snuck it back into the US for us. They didn't encounter any problems at customs. Also, I know that there's websites where you can order it from. There's a small risk involved because if its intercepted, it won't make it to you and you've lost your money. But it may be a risk you're willing to take. **And to answer the second part of your question, its just a very strong liquor with a licorice-like taste to it. Some brands are better than others (the more expensive, the better the quality). The rumor about it causing hallucinations, however, is not true. We drank 3 bottles worth (at different times of course) and neither one of us ever hallucinated.

You can buy absinthe online very easily. While it is illegal to make and sell in the U.S., it's not illegal to import and drink.
