I have the basic Direct TV box. Now they are offering something new, a box that works as a TiVo, where you can record and playback was you watch the show. Is it worth it?

Absolutely! With so many shows these days that I like to watch, they often either overlap or I just don't have time to watch them right when they air. I use my DVR all the time. It's also really nice to be able to rewind and pause live TV. I couldn't live without a DVR anymore.
