  • Traditionally psychedelics were used for the development of spiritual awakenings. The elders of the village would be trained in the use of these drugs and taught others how to use it for inner growth. So their is some truth in what you say.
  • Its the danger you may jump off the roof because you can fly
  • If you can't pretend anymore, then they will lock you up.
  • All experience has the potential to change or affect society. The only danger of inner discovery is the clergy's (gov't) inability to control and tax it. Since clergy and government tend to set themselves up as the center of society and fight any moves that might reduce their amount of control, using psychedelic drugs would be seen as a danger to society. But the reality is, the users of alcohol do much more damage to society, and there is little self-discovery in using alcohol.
  • I don't know if I would necessarily classify inner discovery with being dangerous, except in the sense that it frees the mind and imagination to think about non-conventional ideas, thus I guess producing a threat to the traditional concept of society. For instance, Plato used the allegory of the cave as a sort of analogy for enlightenment. He essentially claimed that society is stuck in a "cave", and eventually, each individual will come into the light, but then there is no retreating back to the comfortable familiarity of the "cave". Am I making sense?
