I would agree with you gtravels. Many of us wish for the world to change. It will have to take determination, skill, and our knowledge to make this happen.
-
Yes, we are, but why not change it ourselves?

Mostly we're waiting for our ships to come in, or having given up on that, we're distracting and entertaining ourselves as the years march by. A few of us are waiting for the world to change. Fewer still are working on changing the world. And a small fraction of those have recognized that we're already IN the right world... this is it. This has always been it. We can wait until the cows come home and the world we're hoping for will never show up... that's not what it's supposed to do... that's not the game plan at all. This world -- with all the troubles, suffering, and problems -- IS the right world already. The thing to do is to engage with this world wholeheartedly, just as it is. When we do that, the waiting disappears -- along with the "mystery" about the meaning of life.

It seems that way. For example, I've seen apathy and lack of participation in my country specially in the last few months. It's an election year and many are hoping for someone to improve our country. I think the answer though, both socially and individually is to do something about it personally. It all begins at home, the example you set for the people around you and making the best contribution to society you can through whatever occupation you're involved in.

I love that song too. His voice is so soothing and you hate for the song to end. Yes, I'm waiting, and waiting, ````~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~and still i wait!

Often we wait on those things that are beyond our control to make decisions for us that we ought to make for ourselves but avoid out of fear or aversion to personal responsibility.

I loathe John Mayer

Yeah... Idiots always want people to change to fit their needs. But it would never be fun just to do the things that you do over and over again. You just say,"I wanna play dodgeball." Then all the other people say is,"OK." in a robotic tone. It would not be fun. and later you'll feel really bored later. People have to change themselves to change others...

Yes, very much so. "The world would be perfect if only _____ would change." If you're unhappy with things, barring a death or some type of horribleness- you're the common denominator. So change the common denominator.

Oh, I think very much so. Especially with things like global warming, for example, nothing is going to really get much better unless we all contribute, we all get involved. That's quite a scary concept for some people to accept, you know? It's like, "we should change this, but I want you guys to do the work, and im gonna sit here and not change me or my lifestyle." Change is a very big, powerful word. It's just too much to bother with for some people.
