How do i get the sound control back into my windows tray?

Go to settings, control panel. Go sounds and double click on the icon. you will see at the bottom a place to check that you want it in the task bar. check that box.

Start -> Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices -> Tick the box next to 'Place volume icon in the taskbar'.
