I live in Las Vegas where prostitution is currently against the law, although there are efforts underway to change that. Prostitution isn't "legal" under Nevada's Revised Statutes. The only reference to it, is that each individual county in Nevada has both the authority and the option to regulate and control the licensing of both prostitutes and brothels, as they wish. Therefore, prostitution hasn't been legalized in Nevada, as much as it has been SOCIALIZED. Currently, 8 out of Nevada's 16 counties have active brothels; as of June/July 2008 there were 28 regulated and licensed brothels in the state of Nevada. In Rhode Island, the act of having sex for money is not in itself an illegal act, but operating a brothel, pimping and street prostitution are illegal. For more details on this activity in Nevada, click this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prostitution_in_Nevada There is a very popular brothel in Nye County, Nevada, owned and operated by former police officers from all over the country (the #1 guy is a retired Deputy Chief from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Dept., named Chuck Lee).
