  • Yes and the wait staff act like you are a moron--solution --I don't go to high end restaurants
  • No, but my husband does. For the life of him he can't say the word foccacia (which is a bread made with olive oil and herbs and is pronounced fo-kotch-ee-ah) He always has me order it from the bakery. The staff looks at him like he's lost his marbles sometimes. lol
  • Yes, because for a few seconds you are using your voice to pronounce something you have no idea what the hell it is. It feels uncomfortable to talk about something you don't know anything about.

  • Yes, only the words that I cannot pronounce.
  • Especially someone's name where you don't want to proounce it wrong.
  • Yeah, that's why I try never to say words without knowing how they're pronounced first. A few weeks ago I was in a Japanese restaurant on a date and I ordered some sort of sushi for the first time (big step for picky me) and the waitress laughed at my pronunciation. I usually just point at stuff on the menu if I can't pronounce it.
