Best month would be Oct and in the USA anywhere in the north-east.

In the states, you can't do better than late Sept - early Nov. in the Northeast. Practically and state there -- Vermont, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Maine -- is gorgeous. The peak turning time for the trees depends a lot on what kind of season it's been but October is a good bet. I hope you get to see the trees and feel the crisp cool air of Fall. It's something not to miss.

come to scotland, anytime between september and march, the weather is perfect if you want to see plenty of greenery in the hills and the beautiful lochs. Its a visitors delight here (so they tell me!!) seriously there is some stunning scenery in the north and on the islands.

Skyline drive, in the Blue Ridge mountains of Virginia. The best time to go is probably mid to late October or early November.
