  • Unless you had some sort of written or verbal contract/agreement, he has no case, especially if he was a live in boyfriend. Of course, if it came down to court, it's your word against his. However, I believe he would have the burden of proof to show there was an agreement.
  • Bottom line...he is not an attorney and CAN NOT charge for services as an attorney. Unless you somehow contracted with him to write a document, you owe him nothing. If he claims to have been acting as your attorney, tell him he was engaged in the unlawful practice of law and that if he seeks compensation as such, he has committed a crime and you will report him accordingly. That should shut him up!
  • Pro se means you represented yourself. Unless he wants the state bar and local prosecuting attorney to determine his attorney-status, blow him off. No, really, drop the bum.
