  • I start there too, but usually because it is the first thing you come to in most stores.
  • I start at the first aisle and zig-zag up and down the aisles until I get to the end and I get really frustrated by people pushing their trolleys in the opposite direction to me. I really think that supermarkets should have strictly policed one-way systems.
  • I always start at the beginning
  • It depends on the store and which door do i go through. Usuaall it's the frozen food section and then i go aisel by aisle seeing if anythign i want is in there.
  • I start there too, because it is right inside the entrance to the super market.
  • I also start at the Produce section. I have tried to start at the other side but I always forget things shoppig that way. Insightful question, BTW.
  • Both bigger stores we shop at has you start at the produce section, In fact in one you have to walk all the way past all the produce just to get to the checkout stands. They are way inside. I'm always surprised they aren't worried someone will run off with a dozen ears of corn LOL! Frozen food and milk are at the absolute opposite end and what we get last. Makes sense in case we get ice cream and milk and it's a long way home. But our little local store has you wlk past a wall of soda and bread first, then leads you to dairy. Produce is all along the back wall. Meat and ice cream are last here. It's interesting to think of the other stores I go in occasionally and they all start you out in the produce department. I wonder why? Could it be because they want to suck yoi in with great easy to do sale veggies and fruit, a lure to make you feel you are going to get good prices before they lure you deep inside where the higher prices lurk? LOL!
  • being that I HATE shopping I am a direct shopper. I go directly to the Items I am shopping for and get out asap. (whenever possible)
  • I start at the front of the store, by the entrance which happens to be the beauty supply part, then I work my way around to the actual groceries. I try to get in and get out in the least amount of time, conserving the most amount of money too.
  • I start at the right side of the store which is almost always produce and work aisle by aisle. Even when I shop with a list, I do this because otherwise I might not get to see new items. Also the stores are usually laid out so that frozen and refrigerated items, milk, dairy, etc are at the end of the shopping excursion and therefore less likely to get warm while you are shopping and transporting them home.
  • If I'm doing a list, I start from one end of the store, probably the farthest away from the checkout counter, and then work my way in. Then when I'm done, I can just head right to the checkout and be done with it.
  • produce
  • Pet food. That way the heavy cans and bags of litter can go on the bottom.
  • Frozen food (I like to get those curly fries things that you can heat up in the oven) :D or Candy!
  • dry goods first, then produce and dairy, and last is the frozen dept
  • The entrance.
  • milk and liquids, they go on the bottom of the cart. bread and produce last because they are soft.
  • i dont ever buy much at the grocery store, typically I walk to the back where the meats are, or the beer aisle lol. +3
  • Produce +4
  • At Kroger stores, you actually have no choice. They arrange the store where you have to pass the produce section, before anything else. they designed it that way for a reason. Next, is the Deli Section. i guess they figure if you not on a diet and don't need produce for a salad, that you must be a bread eater. the Deli is loaded with tempting breads and rolls of all kinds. and, did i mention they also have doughnuts in the Deli? you know i will find a doughnut before anything else.
  • Often it's the meat section first. Whatever is on sale there will dictate what else I'll need to buy.
