  • No USB drives are a lot easier to use. They are more portable, you can easily r/w. They have USB drives up to 16gb (way past a cd or dvd). As long as you don't step on them they should last for a long time.
  • You can use a CD player with a CD, but not with a USB.
  • I would think price for one, would be a consideration. Blank CD's are very accesible price-wise to anyone. Also more hardware or equipment is compatible with the CD format. I believe that will change in the near future, as USB storage units are getting larger in capacity by the day and will become the format of choice.
  • The only thing I've ever used a CD for is to make copies of photos from family events to distribute to family members. The files could have been emailed, but some people's internet connections are so slow it would have taken them hours to download. So, we make CDs for everyone instead. Same thing at work - if there are a bunch of files I need to send to someone, I will offer the CD as an option to email. The USB drives are superior, though, for your own use. You just don't want to go around giving them away :)
