Since this is not going in the direction I thought is would, here's an explanation. It is not a morbid thought but an expression my Brit friend always used to say. We'd have a drink of Royal Salute and I'd ask, how is it. He would say, "Well, it's better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick..." Meaning it tasted good!
