If the laptop is for school then the laptop is worth way more than the xbox. Just to play games the xbox is more bang for the buck.

You can play games and various other things on the laptop, take it with you to foreign countries and use it for school and work. Xbox 360 will serve you mostly for entertainment unless you work in the game industry.
